K a r e n E n g l a n d' s B i o g r a p h y
Karen began performing for ministry events at the age of sixteen. As an active member of her church youth group in Minneapolis, she had numerous opportunities to pursue and strengthen her musical talents. It was through these experiences that Karen discovered her love for music ministry and decided to pursue a degree in music.
Karen graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Music Education with specializations in piano and choral education. In 1993, Karen recorded a self-titled project, and was selected to present her song "Where is the Line" at the East Coast ASCAP Songwriters' Workshop in Washington D.C. The audience included members of Congress, Hal David, and the late Morton Gould (former ASCAP president). New avenues for performing and writing continued to open, and in 1995 Karen signed a distribution deal with Daywind Music Group's Vital Communications label. Her second project "Every Moment" followed in the spring of 1996. "Every Moment" garnered Karen a final nomination at the 1997 National "Indie" Awards and two "Dove" nominations from Daywind along with the chance to perform at a show case during GMA week in Nashville.
In 2000 Karen released her 3rd project "Fire and Snow". That same year she accepted the position of Worship Programming Director at Grace Community Church in Fulton, Maryland where she remained for 8 years. During that time Karen continued to perform and lead worship at other churches and venues.
Currently Karen’s main pursuit is being a wife and mother. She and her husband Bill have 2 children Alex and Victoria. Since leaving staff in 2008 Karen has continued as a worship leader at Grace Community Church and is currently recording a worship project. Three singles from the project are scheduled to be released in January 2012.
