Karen's Bio

Every Moment

Karen England, of Ellicott City, MD, began singing and speaking for ministry events at the age of sixteen. An active member of her church youth group in Minneapolis, she had numerous opportunities to pursue and strengthen her musical talents. It was through these experiences that Karen discovered her love for music ministry and decided to pursue a degree in music.

Karen graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Music Education with specializations in piano and choral education. This led to several years of full time teaching and music directing in schools and churches. During this time of growth, Karen continued to perform at conventions, festivals, and retreats as a solo artist and worship leader.

In 1993, Karen recorded a self-titled project, and was selected to present her hit "Where is the Line" at the ASCAP Songwriters' Workshop in Washington D.C. New avenues for performing, arranging, and writing continued to open, and in 1995 Karen signed with Daywind Music Group's Vital Communications label. Her second project Every Moment followed in the spring of 1996, featuring several songs written by Karen about those daily ups and downs we all have. "When we set out to do the album, we wanted to deal biblically with some of the everyday 'moments' we all face in life," says Karen.

The title of Karen's newest project "Fire and Snow", with Eden Prairie Music, aptly describes the diversity of her latest release. Guitar driven melodies intertwined with heartfelt lyrics encourage listeners to go "deeper" in their walk with God. Check out this lyric from the title cut:

You can hear the whisper of His voice
The Spirit offering the choice to obey or to turn away....
I have read it all comes down to this
The old and new cannot exist in the same time or place....
Like fire and snow

One of Karen's rewards is doing what she loves as she reaches the young generation through music. In addition to touring as a solo artist, Karen tours frequently tours with a band as well. Wherever she may be, Karen offers hope and encouragement through her words and music. Her message provides that hope and light that uplifts others, allowing them to make the most of "every moment" they possess.
