I grew up in the church and love many of the old hymns. I love the way they connect us to the generations of believers that have gone before. A year ago my grandmother passed away. She was born in a sod house, moved across Kansas in a covered wagon, and taught school in a one-room school house (very "Little House on the Prairie")! She was a woman of great faith and even at a 100 was still telling people about Jesus. I'm grateful for my family heritage; so in honor of my grandmother Mae Kelling, I recorded this hymn!

Sometimes life just hurts... and leaves you helpless to change it. Life found me there awhile back. Circumstances from several situations had piled up and I found myself feeling overwhelmed by it all. During that time I often met my friend Juli for coffee; we talked about our lives, shared our struggles, and prayed together. Even though Juli's path seemed more painful to me, she never minimized my situation. She always listened patiently and encouraged me to "look up and remember where Christ is seated".
I began writing this song some time ago; I struggled with the lyrics and then put it aside. I was deeply moved by what Juli shared at her 13-year-old son Peter's funeral and it inspired me to finish the song. I hesitated to record it, but Paul Buono and Nancy Groeneveld encouraged me to do it and lent their skills and talent to bring it to life.
This song is dedicated to Jeff and Juli Lubelczyk in memory of Peter and Andrew. You can read more of Juli"s story at www.ondryground.org.
